About Coach Patrick Cognitore

In more than ten years of working in the fitness industry Patrick has acquired a diverse training background . He's directed fitness center operations at the high school level, managing the facility and overseeing the exercise programming, education and training of students & athletic teams, as well as faculty & staff. As an undergraduate Patrick held work-study and volunteer positions with the school's strength and conditioning staff coaching Division 1 athletes in numerous sports. He also has extensive experience training individual clients and groups as a personal trainer and sports performance coach in a traditional commercial health club environment.

Patrick's education includes a B.S. in Kinesiology from The Pennsylvania State University. Through the nationally accredited National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) he has earned the Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) credentials. In addition, he holds the Exercise is Medicine® Credential Level I from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

A Certified Personal Trainer since 2002, Patrick has kept up on advances in the exercise and sports performance fields via continuing education and conferences with the NSCA, ACSM, National Academy of Sports Medicine, USA Weightlifting and the International Youth Conditioning Association, among others. He has extensive experience in developing and applying exercise safety protocols in multiple settings, and is CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.

Patrick became involved in athletics at an early age and was a three sport athlete in high school. He became interested in fitness training and bodybuilding when he was 12 by way of old Joe Weider Muscle and Fitness Magazines. Patrick later got involved in powerlifting and for several years was nationally ranked in the raw deadlift in the Anti-Drug Athletes United federation. A recreational mountain biker for years he's recently taken on swimming and running and has completed an Xterra half marathon, numerous 5k and 10k runs and several sprint triathlons. Patrick's interest in bodybuilding has now come back around and he is focusing on physique development for competition in 2016.
